World Hunger: A Global Phenomenon
A picture speaks a thousand words. Take a look at the picture above? What do you think? Is it true? Well, it is definitely something to be pondered upon by each and everyone of us. The picture has something to do with what I'm going to talk about. World hunger and famine.
Do you guys know what famine is? Basically it means, scarcity of food or a situation where there is not enough food for people to eat. Nearly every continent in the world has experienced a period of famine throughout history. Many countries continue to have extreme cases of famine. Millions die every year due to starvation. Most of famine cases nowadays happen in the African continent such as Somalia, Niger, Ethiopia and Kenya. The World Health Organization estimates that one-third of the world is well-fed, one-third is under-fed one-third is starving. While you're sitting on your couch devouring pizzas and ice cream, at least 200 people is dying from starvation. These statistics are alarming. In this day and age, the 21st century, no one should be hungry or die from starvation. We should be grateful of living in Malaysia, because not a day has gone by in our lives with an empty stomach. Have you ever thrown away your food because you were not able to finish them? Or have you ever complained that your food is not delicious enough? Well, there are others, millions of them who would kill just for a piece of bread. So, think again before you throw away or complain about your food.

happy merdeka raya !!!
assalamualaikum and hye everyone!!
I know it's almost too late but i'd like to wish all Muslim and Malaysians a HAPPY EID MUBARAK and HAPPY 55th INDEPENDENT DAY!!
well, for this entry im not going to tell much about how i celebrated eid mubarak because its not included in my assignment to tell about that.hahhaaa^^,,let's proceed to the independent day,. i'm sure each and everyone of us are proud of that very amazing day, 31 august 1957 , that day was the very reason why we are here today, under one beautiful flag. this year i celebrate merdeka day with full of spirit because we are 55 year of independent. its actually 5century!! thats a long time. on the day of 31 august i went to the dataran merdeka to celebrate merdeka day with others malaysian. at the dataran merdeka , i watched the marching army and parade. it was a very exciting day for me. my family were also in the festive mood. they put on the jalur gemilang on our car and in front of our house. it was just one of the ways to show our appreciation towards the 'big guys' that had put on their effort to save our country 55 years ago. Today I would like to propose to my fellow friends to not just focus the image of Merdeka to only the past, but to also look into the future and ask ourselves, how will our country look like and celebrate Merdeka Day in…say…31st August 2020 or 31st August 2040. Something to ponder upon…and what do you see?

How To Empower Your English
Hey guys, how are you guys doing?
In this post, we are going to share with you guys on how to improve your English language in a few simple ways. English is very important for us as most of the reading materials in the market, reference books, movies and songs are in English. Even in our everyday lives, we may encounter some people where English is their mother tongue. So it is important for us to practice and try make our English better. Here are some of the ways:
Listening to English songs
Listening to English songs helps you to speak more fluently in English and helps you enrich your vocabulary. Even listening to music while doing something else can help a little for things like getting used to the natural rhythm and tone of English speech.
Reading NSTP
Yea, that's right! Well, maybe not necessarily NSTP. NSTP stands for New Straits Times Press, in case you're wondering. You may try other English newspapers or maybe other types of reading materials such as magazine, novels or journals. This may help you to learn the proper way of how English sentence is written. Not only that, you can also learn new words, get to know the current news and generating new and brilliant ideas.
Speak English with your friends
It helps you to speak fluently in English. It also helps you to gain confidence when speaking in English. You will get used to the words and pronunciation of the English words when you speak English regularly. Don't be shy. English is just a language, and the main function of language is to deliver a message. As long as the message is understood, who cares if your English is not good enough? You'll improve slowly day by day.
Write in your diary/journal in English
This is where you can write anything in it. But if you do write something you wouldn’t want others to read, make sure you hide it somewhere safe! Or try not to write anything offensive at all in case someone does find it. You can also write about neutral stuff like the places you went that day, what you ate, who you met, what you did, etc.
Actually, there are many more ways for you to improve your English. If you have extra money to spend, you can even sign up for English courses, English camps and so on. But why throw away your money when you can learn the language in cheaper ways? The most important thing is to always have fun and enjoy in learning and improving your English! So, just keep on practicing. As the saying goes, practice makes perfect!
Mermaid Mythology
Hye everyone!!
Have you ever heard about mermaid mythology?? I'm sure you have..actually when we talk about mermaid, we always picture a beautiful lady with a tail which is kind and benevolent to humans. They keep to their own kind in the deep waters of the ocean. But not all stories go this way, though, and in most cases the most ancient tales of mermaid mythology follow quite a different view. In some version, mermaids are viewed as evil-intentioned creatures who would sing to men on ships or shores hypnotizing them with their beauty and song. The men would then rush out to sea only to be either drowned, eaten, or otherwise sent to their doom.
Some people believed that
even well-intentioned mermaids would cause great danger to men when they mistakenly believed they saw a woman drowning and would dive into the waters to
save them. Other tales suggest that mermaids either forgot or didn't
understand that humans could not breathe underwater, and they would pull
them down into the depths of the sea, accidentally drowning them in the
process.
In the modern mythology of mermaids, however, this is rarely the case. These beings are more likely to be seen as innocent and sweet. Much of the modern interpretation of mermaids came from the most famous tale in all of mermaid mythology - Hans Christian Andersen's "The Little Mermaid" and the subsequent Disney movie of the same name.
By the way, when I googled about this myth, the earliest known mermaid legends come from Syria around 1000 B.C. where the Syrian goddess Atargatis dived into a lake to take the form of a fish, but the powers there would not allow her to give up her great beauty, so only her bottom half became a fish and she kept her top half in human form. Overall, this is an interesting myth. Myth symbolizes the uniqueness of a culture. Whether it is true or not, we will never know. They are just stories told by the old folks, passed down from one generation to another. We should not be too obsessed with myth up to the point where it consumes our lives. Just enjoy the story and take the good values out of it.
